When I first encountered salsa I was hopeless at the steps but I had already been 'bitten by the salsa bug' because of the infectious music and the social environment. There's not much that can stand in the way of persistence so I just kept on going and trying and eventually it just starts to happen. Many, many times I thought of giving up but I wanted to do it and it was still fun. So much fun that I started to find suitable venues and teachers and running my own classes. Now I also teach and train others to teach.

I began dancing Latin ballroom in 2002 before moving to freestyle salsa with Justdance in 2005. It wasn’t long before I had the salsa bug and was dancing at least 4 nights a week and helping out at UK salsa festivals where I was fortunate enough to gain experience from some of our top teachers. My highlight so far was working with Giles & Rosa’s student group culminating with a performance at a salsa weekender. Salsa gives me the opportunity to express myself in so many ways and is great for keeping fit and combating the stresses of everyday life. I love the salsa community and met my partner thanks to Justdance.

Hi,

I was introduced to Salsa in the autumn of 2005. I started with 1 lesson a week and quickly got hooked and found myself out dancing 3-4 nights a week! Dancing has also given me an opportunity to expand on my clothes and shoe collections as well – a girl can never have enough shoes ;-) I assist in teaching at both Christchurch and Otterbourne classes and love to help people develop their individual approach to salsa and flair on the dance floor. It is wonderful to think that had I not started all those years ago I would not have found something (and someone) I love …….thanks to Justdance!

Noelito
Noelito started dancing salsa in 1999 in Edinburgh. Since returning to London in 2001, he has honed his dancing under the likes of Robert Charlemagne, Tamambo, Super Mario, Susanna Montero and Leon Rose, all of whom remain his greatest UK influences. Upon moving to the south coast in 2003, and upon the recommendation of Susanna, he started teaching salsa and merengue locally. He has since taught for Salsa Esperienza, Salsa Magic, Tracies's Latin Club, JustDance and Salsa UK. He is also a regular behind-the-scenes worker at Salsa UK's annual salsa congress. Noelito's style is cross-body (On 1 and On 2) with a funky slant to it, which he teaches with an emphasis on clear leading and signaling on the man's part.

You?

We are always on the lookout for good teachers and people who would make good salsa teachers.

Do you have the desire to help people learn your passion for salsa?

Motivation is often more important than already having the skills as these can usually be taught. Can you give some time to learn the teaching skills "on the job"?

Being a salsa teacher can be hugely rewarding - especially in the feedback you'll get from people you've taught and the knowledge that you are helping today's beginners to become tomorrow's dancers and maybe teachers themselves.

Many of our teachers started learning salsa with Justdance and have gone on to become teachers and DJs for us and other salsa organisations.

Contact us today or ask for more information at any of the classes.

I started Salsa a few years ago, when I first started I must admit I had two left feet!! It took me ages to learn the basic step, other people around me seemed to just click and were progressing onto the higher levels and I was still trying to grasp the basics. All I can say to people wanting to learn Salsa is don’t give up you will get it!!!!

I am now a salsa addict. I recommend it 100% to everyone. I have met some lovely people and have made lots of new friends. It’s not only a very social hobby but it keeps you fit. When I first started I wasn’t a very confident person and I think Salsa has helped me grow in confidence. Come and give it ago your soon be addicted too!

I started salsa ing last year, after having a meltdown!!! I needed some "me time" and having always wanted to try it, decided to go along to my local class at Christchurch. Several weeks later, dragging a friend along for moral support, I made it through the door, and haven't looked back - although, being a follower, and letting the man lead has sometimes proved a problem!!! I love every minute of Wednesday night, so I also go to the Eastleigh class on a Sunday, I've tried various other dances including Tango, Cha cha cha, bachata and merengue, and have been on party nights, Salsa demonstrations in the rain, and weekenders!!! It is great for general fitness, winding down, (and winding up!!) and I have made some very dear friends who are there for me for dancing with and for life - You know who you all are!!!!
If you want to get fit, have fun, and make friends, then Salsa with Justdance is the group for you. Don't be shy, make the move and join in - you won't regret it!!!

Vikki
My Justdance Salsa story begins with my friend Vicky. She talked about salsa for years, she was so enthusiastic about the dance and the friends she had made at Justdance salsa. I often watched her practise, usually in my kitchen and demonstrate the moves she had learnt and was always impressed. I never thought I would be able to do it and was not very confident so it never even crossed my mind to give it a go. Finally though I decided to go and watch, I wanted to see Vicky in 'action'! I was a shy little thing (which is uncharacteristic for those who know me!) in the corner and very reluctant to try, thanks to the kindness and encouragement from the Justdance team and other dancers I finally gave it a go on my 3rd visit! From then onwards I haven't looked back; I was bitten by the 'Salsa bug' and attend as many of the classes as I can. Not to mention the fantastic friends I have made. You will find me in Winchester, at the Weeke class, every Tuesday, running the door. I look forward to welcoming you there!
